Christmas Fun

We had a very full month of Christmas activities. The older the kids get, the more fun it all is. They make Christmas so magical.

Our friends, the Baileys, have a Christmas Eve tradition of doing a dinner that Jesus would eat. We did a roast chicken, bread, corn and juice. We shared it with my parents. It was pretty great!
We made snow globes. The kids love them! And I love that the glitter stays inside!
They were reindeer.
We had our friends Ella, Wade, Lily and Owen over to decorate cookies. We don't get to see them very often with school in so it was so great to be reunited!
The Elf on the Shelf came to our house courtesy of my Aunt Becky. I thought it was pretty lame, but Hailey wrote him a letter saying "I believe in you. Come to my house, etc." I didn't have the heart to say no and I didn't have the desire to spend 25 bucks on the dumb thing, so my Aunt let me borrow him to see if it would be good. Blake got pretty creative with where he hid, the vents, upside down. Blake even wrote her a letter saying "I like peppermint hot cocoa and long walks on the beach." Hailey drew a picture of the Elf doing those things. It was so cute. So, now I guess I need to get our own!

Spencer and Hailey after her singing. I love how great they are to each other. They both get so excited about each other's accomplishments. They can fight like there is no tomorrow, but they love each other!

We made milk chocolate fudge, which is just about the yummiest Christmas treat ever! Here is the recipe too!
First year she didn't cry over seeing Santa! Spencer saw Santa at his school and we never got around to Brooke going. Lucky she is too young to remember!
Hailey and I went to her Santa breakfast at her school. Best place to go to not have to wait to see Santa!
Here are the annual ornaments. There is a reindeer who lives near us and the kids love to see him. So, we got these for them. Blake got the key to my heart. Cheesy, I know.=) They surprised me a week later with my ornament, a wreath for the door. So sweet!
The kids were super excited to decorate the tree. I went to look for something for a minute and came downstairs and they had decorated almost the whole tree! It was pretty impressive!

We have been doing a lot of swimming, popsicle eating, water playing, anything to keep cool in this awful heat! This $15 pool was the best purchase we have ever made, in my opinion! Spencer loves it because it is just a big bath for him. Some people in our ward "donate" their pools to us hot people. It is great. This is Spencer's first swim. Poor kid. Believe it or not, he did enjoy it. Hailey swam across the pool with her floaties, so she was pretty psyched. About ten seconds after the swimming. He was so pooped!

Spencer getting ready to become a Priest for church. He was pretty happy about it and his new responsibilities. Wlliam always being slightly choked. Blake hung up my organizer I got from Marci Durrant's barn sale We had pasta making night competition. It was so fun to use our new pasta roller. Hailey and Spencer and Blake were a team. Brooke and William and I were a team. We really need to do this again! First time Spencer did temple baptisms where he was the baptizer. He baptized Taitlyn! Woo! Lovely winter sunset Made something new! The boys ate them right up! Lunch with Hailey! Another fun bakery order! That's it for January! Always a bit exhausted after December.

Brookey Brooke

Brooke Eileen Bell was born Aug 24th at 11:11 pm. 7 lbs, 15 oz, 20 inches.....and tons of great black hair!! Heres the story for all you interested people. I had cleaned the house all day and played with the kids. Was about to make dinner around 4 and started to feel a little weird and crampy, but didn't think much about it. Around 5, I was making chocolate chip waffles for dinner and realized the contractions had gone on for an hour and were about 3 minutes apart now. Called Blake and said I might be in labor, but don't worry, it would probably go away. Kept making waffles...called my mom and told her I was probably in labor. Blake got home, left for hospital around 6. We went to the ER and they said go to labor and delivery. Around 630, I was at a 4. Got all set up on IV and by the time epidural came around 830, I was at a 6. Moved to a 10 pretty fast after. Pushed a few times and there she was!!
