Back to Life, Back to Reality
After we got back into town, we spent a lot of time unpacking, washing, cleaning and sleeping! I slept in till 9 for three days and let the kids have free reign of the house. Good parenting, I know. Brooke got a new swimsuit, which totally matched her personality. As Hailey said "loud and colorful!"
Hailey loves cheetah print and this was one of her new school outfits.
We drive past A&W one day and they were having free root beer float day. It was a good surprise.
We picked a bunch of corn from a woman's from church field. We had five or six pillowcases full and ended up giving a lot away. After we had processed and frozen all that corn, I wasn't dying to see corn again! But it has been so nice to have fresh/frozen corn in the freezer! Spencer helped too. I made him husk a bunch before he went to his friend's house to play.
A good tomato from our garden. We had quite a few this year and Spencer was a happy man.
Brooke painting with chalk. Anything to be messy and to wear a swimsuit.
We went to the lake that's five minutes from us. Want to take advantage of that place. We stayed for a few hours and the kids loved it! We tried to keep really busy because Blake was out of town a few days after we got back into town. We sure missed him and were happy when he got back so we could get our family together again!
Brooke made this hat at church, I think.
Hailey picked these from our yard and arranged them.
Hailey face painted herself.
A gorgeous summer sunset. We live here!!!!
The first day of school. Hailey in 4th grade (what?!) and Spencer in 1st grade. They have loved their time in school. There have been some bumpy times but they have grown and done well. Both of their teachers are more old school and disciplined, so it was tough at first but they are learning so much.
Since the big kids were in school, it was party time for us! We went to the park.
What a juicy man!
Brooke got a welcome to preschool card from her teacher. She was so excited that she carried it around all day! She still has it in her special box.
After the first day of school. Tired and happy.
Look how tall that corn is! And don't mind William's goggles. We just got back from hair cuts and Spencer uses goggles to keep the hair out of his eyes. William had to wear them and wore them all day. It was so funny.
I love these brothers playing together. Spencer is a good brother. He helps William a lot.
Hailey's hair is just amazing. Lucky duck!
Green beans from our garden. I bet we got 100 this year! Pretty exciting for a desert rat.
Brooke got to be the special helper at preschool because it was her birthday. She was even the first one! So, she got to bring snack and be the line leader and sit in the special chair. She was so happy about it.
We went to a museum nearby one day. Brooke made some friend and they built this tower together.
William loved playing in the country exhibits. This was him as a Middle Easterner in the Mexico exhibit. Those cheeks are the best.
Happiness is a tractor. And yes, he was totally annoyed when it was time to go.
Brooke at the waterfall outside the museum. What a pretty mama. I love how she notices everything!
And finally, the sad truth of life sometimes. The play room gets overrun with insanity and it takes many hours to get on top of it. The best part was getting rid of a lot of things while the kids were at school. The worst part is it's messy again, not this messy. I guess I'll have a clean house in 20sh years or so. A boring, quiet, clean house.
