Nauvoo Trip
Our ward had a temple trip so we decided to use it for a little getaway, since we knew we wouldn't be getting away much with the winter coming.
Hailey was proud of kicking butt at yahtzee. She got three yahtzees!
On the way home, we saw a sign for the biggest frying pan in Iowa. It's about 20 minutes from our house in a tiny town with one gas station. They actually used the frying pan and cooked a town meal. It was pretty funny.
My Mississippi. I can't get enough of this place!
Cute kid
Playing yahtzee. We always stay in these little condos when we go to Nauvoo. It's nice to have a little home instead of a hotel!
It was so cold while we were there that this little creek was frozen over. I loved driving by it. Nature is so great.
Josea Stout is my relative. Hailey, Spencer and I walked down Parley Street and read all of the signs. It was so freezing, but didn't realize it was 6 degrees with wind chill till we got back to the car! I felt awful, but we sure will never forget what the pioneers felt. To be that cold and never being able to get warm would be just unbearable. Truly amazing people.
We visited Brigham Young's home because we hadn't been there yet.
After the walk down Parley Street. We tried hard to smile through the cold! We ran back to the car. Spencer actually waited on the side of the road for me to get the car. I have never been so grateful to have heat!
We went to the family living center. There is always something fun to do there.
Making ropes.
The kids by the temple
On the way to Nauvoo, we went to an Amish community. Best food ever! Best prices! Best bread! It was so fun. We saw some horse and buggies and the kids had a great time. I am sometimes nervous about bringing the kids to new places because who knows how it will go! But we could have stayed for longer. Nice to have them get a little bigger.
We went to an Amish grocery store. Brooke got these angry birds fruit snacks. They handmade everything!
We went to a cheese factory. It was cool to see cheese made, but it was a one time visit.
