Spain day 5 and 6
The kids with the cousins.
We climbed up 800 stairs to get to this castle. 90 degrees and 85% humidity. It was a climb and worth it when we got up there! I thought it was a pretty great idea because who would climb to the top of those to take over the castle? They would have to really want to take over.
Loved this with all the clouds.
These statues were so gorgeous!! All hand made lots of years ago.
View from the castle
This was grafitti on a storefront. It was amazing!
These were castle windows!
Loved all these old doors. Funny how we all try to make things look old in America.
These plants were growing on the side of the castle.
What a lock.
Little hangout spot in the castle
We went to a beach that turned out to be dirty but the people were clothed. Nothing grosser than seeing garbage floating in the water and people swimming in it!!
My favorite parts of this trip were walking anywhere we wanted, the enforced afternoon siesta, the bread, the gelato, being able to practice my Spanish, knowing that I could still speak some Spanish, going in the Mediterranean and being with Blake of course.
Gelato!! Good thing we walked everywhere!
Street performers were out. It was so cute to see the kids go up to them. The kids would have loved it!
The bus would get so super crowded. People just kept getting on! No capacity or anything!! And a bit stinky but I thought America could learn a bit about squishing in too.
On our last night there, we found this little cafe for dinner. We had abandogas, Spanish meatballs. They were delicious. Blake made friends with this Spanish man and he loved talking to him. He always tried to use slang words so he wouldn't be mistaken for a tourist. I could see how much he loved these people and how he will always have Spain in him.
On the way home, we flew over Greenland. We almost missed our flight in Munich, which would have been a nightmare but we barely made it! On the way to Spain, I was sitting behind a guy with a broken seat and on the way home, I was sitting behind a large guy who adjusted in his seat every few minutes. Good times!! Jet lag was interesting but we really pushed through.
Our clothes were all stinky from cigarette smoke and sweat and Spain so we (I) was forced to wear a Star Wars shirt on the way home. This guy at the airport saw us and said, "May the force be with you." ha. After a delayed flight and a nap in the middle of Idaho at a gas station, we made it back home to the kids. They had made us some Welcome home banners and were so happy to see us and very full of energy. We weren't full of energy but we made it through. We are so thankful to Kellie and Spencer for helping us fulfill our dream!!! And the kids for being awesome so Kellie and Spencer would be willing to do it again in the future.
